The spiritual path of Shambhala Buddhism emphasizes benefiting the world we live in by seeking to uplift a society burdened by “setting sun” outlook: trying to avoid the raw qualities of life and death through entertainment, aggression, or simply ignoring.
Award-winning author Rebecca Hazell infiltrates setting sun outlook via books. Tonight will be a special launch of The Grip of God, the first novel in an epic trilogy set in the turbulent 13th century. Rebecca will discuss how these novels are infused with Shambhala vision, and she will give a short reading. Afterwards, her books will be available for purchase (and signing).
The approximate schedule:
6:45 PM: Welcome. Meet people and get your bearings.
7:00 PM: Meditation instruction and practice. Abbreviated introductory instruction will be available at 7:00 PM. (To learn about meditation instruction see our Meditation page.)
7:30 PM: Talk and discussion. “Infiltrating Setting Sun Outlook,” with Rebecca Hazell
8:30 PM: Tea. Mingle with others who share your curiosity and interest.
We provide meditation cushions, benches and chairs. Bring your friends!
