Event Description

Society For Indian Classical Arts (SICA), a student club at the University of Victoria presents an Indian (Hindustani) Classical Music concert of Sarod and Tabla on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Sarod is a fret-less string instrument (similar to Sitar) and has additional sympathetic strings. Pandit Abhisek Lahiri is an "A" grade artist of All India Radio and Television and an acclaimed Sarod player. He won the hearts of audience all over the world and is travelling from Calcutta, India. Please see Abhisek's webpage (http://sarodabhisek.com) for more information about the artist. Pandit Partha Sarathi Mukherjee, a tabla exponent of Benares Gharana will be accompanying Abhisek in this concert. Don't miss this opportunity to see these wonderful artists perform here in Victoria.
