Event Description

STOMP is a unique blend of percussion, choreography and physical comedy. Starting out as a dustbin routine on the streets of Brighton in the early Eighties, the first full show was premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1991. With productions in London and New York and with touring companies all over the world; with performances for the Oscars, Emmys and the Royal Variety, STOMP has universal appeal. Seen by 25 million people world-wide, first time ever in Victoria.

“At its best, STOMP convinces its audience that the background music of our everyday lives is worth listening to.” The New York Times

Without dialogue, but utilizing the universal languages of rhythm and physical comedy, STOMP has proved to be successful wherever it has been performed: from Japan to Brazil, Russia to South Africa. STOMP has performed in over 40 countries worldwide and pays return visits to almost all of them.

STOMP also has full time US and UK based touring companies. Each production is considered a reinvention of the original work: every performer bringing something of themselves to the show, and helping give each company its own unique character.

“In case you don’t know, is an unparalleled gang of clowns, accomplished dancers, death-defying acrobats, musicians pulling notes out of nowhere and, ultimately, frenzied drummers who can’t see a bit of metal without bashing it. Tapping and bashing away, they come across like a butched-up Riverdance but with far more wit and inventiveness. This is as much about pins dropping as bin-lids clanging.” The Independent
