Dark Room 14 features the recent sculpture-based work of Colin Miner. Miner’s poly-urethane and paint objects reflect the dislocation between the real and imaginary aspects of the photographic record. Through the process of replication, objects such as the film canister, tongs or dust blower are established as new, but also act as relics of dual points of origin: the dark room, and the mold. While they may create, destroy, reconstruct, and mimic, the objects also force a reconsideration of what role is reserved for them in the production of memory. Dark Room 14
confronts the real versus the artificial, while emphasizing the spaces in which these objects originate.
