They’ve been referred to as “the best act to come along in the world of Celtic music”, “nothing short of amazing” and “a revelation”, Qristina and Quinn Bachand will be celebrating Christmas the Celtic way, with a concert that showcases their outstanding talents and love of Celtic music. You’ll be in for a treat, with a program that includes toe-tapping fiddle tunes, spirited Irish tenor banjo, amazing guitar duets, heart-felt songs, flashy step dancing and more! Qristina and Quinn will also be performing some of the new material they’ll be recording in 2013.
This is a special opportunity to see the popular brother and sister duo since Qristina moved to Amsterdam in the Fall. In just 4 short years Qristina and Quinn have released two albums, won two Irish Music Awards, received three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations as well as a Western Canadian Award nomination.
Joining them on this special night will be guitarist Adam Dobres (Daniel Lapp, Ruth Moody, Tony Childs), Oliver Swain (The Duhks, The Bills, The Red Stick Ramblers), Another special guest includes a capella singer Graham Metcalfe, who for the last thirty years has been an important part of the extremely rich traditional music scene in Oxford, where he is known as "Oxford's favourite Yorkshireman".
A Celtic Ceilidh would not be complete without some flashy Irish step-dancing, so they’re very pleased to once again have the award winning dancers from the O’Brien School of Irish Dance.
Qristina & Quinn Bachand’s Celtic Christmas Ceilidh takes place at Knox Presbyterian Church, 2964 Richmond Road (just south of Lansdowne Road). Doors open at 7:00 pm, the concert starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students & seniors and children aged 10 and under get in free. Tickets are available at Larsen Music, Long & McQuade, Ivy’s Bookshop and Ditch Records.
