Event Description

An evening of eclectic, unusual music, with John Alac - Classical Guitar performing a program of Czech-Slovak composers from the 16th - 20th centuries, Nicholas Fairbank - Pipe Organ on the recently-restored Casavant opus 400, and Orthodox Voices - a cappella hymnody. The eastern European flavour flows to North America, reflected in music inspired by this new landscape. The hymnody of the Eastern Orthodox Church is seldom heard outside of liturgy, and offers a glimpse into Byzantine and Slavic tonal settings. Nicholas Fairbank is an internationally-renowned composer, recitalist and performer. This event is a fundraiser for All Saints of Alaska Orthodox Church.
