Join Nick in an exploration of what it takes to get your lead and back up playing to the next level. We will take a couple of well known songs, create different solos in a traditional Scruggs style, then examine different approaches to back up that will complement any musical situation. Tab will be provided and students should bring a recording device.
Nick Hornbuckle is from Nanaimo, BC, and is a member of the Juno nominated Bluegrass group, John Reischman and the Jaybirds. Nick began playing the banjo at the age of 11, and has been teaching since he was 13. He was recently featured on the cover of Banjo Newsletter, and has published three banjo instruction books.
Nick has taught at the British Columbia Bluegrass Workshop, Cottage Music's Cruise to Alaska, the California Bluegrass Association's Summer Music Camp and the Rockygrass Bluegrass camp.
