Event Description
Winston
After forming a four-piece band and releasing a critically acclaimed full-length album Passengers in 2004, West Coast music critics listed Winston as one of the top local acts, alongside indie giants Hot Hot Heat and the New Pornographers. "Winston is a joy to see live," wrote Kerry Gold of the Vancouver Sun. Winston is now a solo artist who also produces other indie acts from his secret bunker in downtown Vancouver. He lives in a cabin on a small island minutes off the mainland.
Paisley Jura
Classically trained in double bass at the University of Western Ontario, Paisley’s debut album Time in Between was released in 2009 and hit Number One at CIUT, charting on college radio across the country. The record was well received, with the Globe & Mail calling it “a sweet respite in this brief restless life” and the Vancouver Courier “a folksy collection of starry melodies”; Toronto’s NOW Magazine praised Paisley’s “voice that rings clear and true”, and the Edmonton Vue Weekly advised “bring a box of Kleenex.”
She's touring the country in support of her latest album - the Michael Phillip Wojewoda (Barenaked Ladies, Great Big Sea) produced 'Time Is How You Spend Your Love'.
David Blair
David’s live performances are as endearing as his songs, landing him two official 2010 Olympic performances as well as an opening slot for Juno nominee K’Naan (“Waving Flag” – World Cup Song for Coke) and Australian sensation, Kate Miller-Heidke. In addition, he has showcased his music at many music festivals around North America touring on “Hard to Control” (2007) and “Things Left Unsaid” (2009) in venues such as the Viper Room and the House of Blues in Hollywood. In late 2008, “Hard to Control” picked up the ‘Best Contemporary Album’ award and received runner up for the ‘Best Adult Contemporary Male Artist’ for the Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards.
David was recently a Top 20 finalist on Shore FM's Sounds of Summer contest and was accepted to perform at Break Out West in Kelowna Oct. 21st-24th as well as Canadian Music Week in Toronto for March 2011.
