Event Description

The popular Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir Christmas concert series continues for Christmas 2010 with the addition of critically acclaimed John Lee Sanders, a headliner for Jazz and Blues festivals in Canada and Europe, winner of three Canadian Music Awards, and Emmy-nominated composer. Paired with Good Noise singing contemporary gospel and gospel renditions of Christmas favourites, these highly-anticipated concerts are a must-see during the Christmas Season. Often sold out, audience members have remarked, “Christmas would not be complete without a Good Noise Christmas Concert.”

John Lee Sanders can sit in front of a piano and transport you from the everyday to a smoky New Orleans Cajun bar, then on to a blues club in Chicago, and still further on to an uptown jazz club in Manhattan, all in one set. Critics have commented on John Lee and his music: “New Orleans deep fried funk… in a bucket full of blues.” “A musical gumbo of boogie piano, Texas Tenor sax”. “A soulful voice of tremendous spiritual range.” John Lee Sanders has performed with Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder, Freddie King, Dr. John, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Page, Tower of Power, Starship, and many blues, jazz and pop legends.

Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir, regarded as a leader in the gospel choir movement in Canada, is known for its dynamic vocal sound, excellence in performance and a commitment to sharing the “good noise” that is gospel music.

“RAISED THE ROOF AND BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN with 'Good News' music.....Rocked the Lord's House with their infectious hand-clapping, toe-tapping, finger-snapping, hands-in-the-air FEEL GOOD MUSIC!!”
Fred Lee, Vancouver Courier, CBC Radio

In the few short years of the choir’s existence, Good Noise has become the “go to” choir, receiving many requests for special performances, both live and on television and radio. Good Noise has performed with artists such as David Foster, Josh Groban, Daniel Lapp, Dee Daniels, Jim Byrnes and has appeared on CBC Radio, Global TV and been featured at several festivals, including the Vancouver Folk Festival and the Wintersong Festival. Members of the choir have been featured in a television Christmas gospel music special on the Bravo network, Vision Network and the Knowledge Network and featured in the Disney corporation’s promotion of the musical “The Lion King”.

Good Noise is also known for the outstanding musicians that accompany the choir. Artistic Director, Gail Suderman directs the choir from the piano, and the choir is honoured to work with Mike Kalanj on Hammond B3, Laurence Mollerup on Bass Guitar and Double Bass, Elliot Polsky on Drums and Percussion and Ingrid Stitt on Alto and Soprano Saxophones.
