Music-Beyond Borders

Vancouver Community College's School of Music presents two evenings of music by talented performers from VCC's School of Music

November 30, 2009 will feature the VCC Madrigal Singers (directed by Gerald Van Wyck) performing music from the renaissance and baroque periods, as well as contemporary works.They will be joined by the VCC "Pre-Bop" Jazz Ensemble and the VCC Jazz Orchestra (directed by Alan Matheson) who will present a wide range of jazz from New Orleans classics, Swing Era favourites and new compositions for big band.

December 3, 2009 will showcase VCC's "Short Fuse" jazz combo (directed by Laurence Mollerup), an exciting ensemble that specializes in Fusion jazz in the tradition of Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. As well, the dynamic VCC Latin Jazz Ensemble (directed by John Korsrud) will present an exciting set of music from Latin-American and Cuba. Beginning the program will be the Vancouver Community College Chamber Choir (directed by Paula Kremer and Patricia Plumley), performing a wide ranging program of choral music, old and new.

Place: Alice MacKay Room, Vancouver Public Library’s Central Branch
Admission: Free, but space may be limited
