Their aim is to take over North America and the Caribbean by storm! So if you didn’t make it to Trinidad for Carnival this year…don fret yuhself…get out your sexiest and flashiest gear and come down to the Good Friday Fête ready to mash up Easter--Caribbean style! NastyJag have played 3 previous ram-packed Pepperpot shows (including May Long Weekend Jump Up 2004 and Jungle Affair Soundclash with Wyld Fyah 2004), and due to popular demand will be returning to Victoria for their first show since 2006 at Lucky Bar! These shows are unforgettable so don’t miss this one!!
In the meantime you can hear the NastyJag Soundcrew spreading the West Indian vibe on their 2 weekend radio shows in Vancouver: on 90.1 FM: Saturday's - "Pirates Of The Caribbean" 4-6pm and Sunday's - "West Indies Culture Shock" 9-11pm…or Live On The Web @ http://www.myspace.com/nastyjagsoundcrew and www.nastyjag.com (temporarily unavailable)
Also performing along side NastyJag will be Maffie, the lead vocalist, composer, and arranger for the Vancouver band Maffie & Crew. Hailing from St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Eastern Caribbean, the same tiny island as Kevin Lyttle, where he was a regular performer at the local Carnival, Maffie exploded onto the Vancouver scene in 1999. He produced his debut album in 2000 called “Juk Juk Pussy”, followed by the 2002 album “On Strike”, which included the popular song, "Pum Pum On Strike.” This album reached number 4 on the top ten music charts in his homeland St. Vincent and the Grenadines and remained one of the most popular carnival tunes for that year. In addition to performing with Maffie & Crew, Maffie has continued to release albums and produce music for several Caribbean African and Canadian musicians in Vancouver including Sam Hope and Family, Phrase III Steel band, Fire Band and Out of Many, Zukie Joseph, Dan Shallow, Silas Sajjadi, Sarah Karkouck, Zeyn Anthony Ali, and Ugandan hip-hop artist, Silas Sajjabi. This band is known for its high energy performances and inducing the crowd into a soca frenzy, so you can expect Maffie to Bring the Madness to Victoria!! http://www.maffie.com
