Event Description

2008 Grammy Award Winning Choir for Best Traditional World Music Album!

Since Soweto Gospel Choir's introduction to North American audiences three years ago, this instantly inviting, heart-warming and awe-inspiring choir has amassed a growing international fan-base. While singing in several languages, the exuberant choir speaks a universal language as they share their message of love, joy and hope. Their heart-felt message has gained them some notable fans including Nelson Mandela, who requested their presence for his birthday and named them ambassadors for one of his AIDS foundations. Their first North American tour in 2005 sold out everywhere, including Carnegie Hall, where they made their debut in front of an enthusiastic New York crowd. In 2006, they released their Grammy Award winning CD ''Blessed'' and toured internationally, to 46 cities in the US alone. This year Soweto received their second grammy for Traditional World Music Album: "African Spirit".

Soweto''s upcoming Canadian performances, presented by Global Arts Concerts, will be an inspirational evening of infectious jubilation propelled by a South African mosaic of rhythm, moods and divinely inspired dancing transfixing to the eye.
