If you're into getting loose and dancing until you're sore the next morning we have the perfect solution... Victoria BC Ska Society is proud to present the people VICTORIA'S 9TH ANNUAL SKA FESTIVAL FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT RUCKUS - MEX/WEST STYLE featuring your old and new favourite bands.
For the first time we are proud to host INSPECTOR - from Monterrey Mexico to the festival.
INSPECTOR is one of the most representative ska bands in Mexico with twelve years in the music scene. Formed in late 1995, their influences come from the history of ska and its distinct waves. The lyrics talk about love and the loss of it, personal experiences, things that people could identify with. The band released its first independent album in late 1998 entitled “Blanco y Negro”, which lead the band to win a “Nuestro Rock” award as best new group. This event allowed the band to perform in many cities inside Mexico. In 2002 they are signed by Universal Music and produced the album "Alma en Fuego". Thanks to hits like "Amnesia" and "Amargo adios", Inspector became the first ska group in Mexico to receive a platinum record in 2003.
LOS FURIOS are familiar with the Victoria Ska Festival making two previous appearances in 2004 and 2005. But what makes this appearance even more sweet is that Pedro Alfaro aka "Dros" (Los Furios' past lead singer) will be making a special trip/appearance all the way from El Salvador to join in the festivities.
And finally to top it off, the Victoria BC Ska Society is proud to welcome back Mama Pulpa after their debut festival performance last year on the Kick Off Concert.
This ceremonial combination of bands all come together under one roof on Friday, July 11th @ White Eagle Hall.
This concert is all ages w/ licensed beer garden, food concession and merchandise tents.
