Event Description
Barber gained national critical acclaim with the 2004 release of her CBC-produced EP, Oh Heart. The National Post called her “Canada’s best alt-cabaret singer”, and she received four-star reviews in Eye, Now, and on chatattack.com. In 2005, she was awarded Female Artist-Recording of the Year for Oh Heart at the Nova Scotia Music Awards. She was also nominated for two 2005 East Coast Music Awards in the categories of Best Female Artist and Best Folk Recording and garnered a nomination at the inaugural Canadian Folk Music Awards, in the category of Best New/Emerging Artist. Barber has also been voted Best Local Female Artist by readers of The Coast, Halifax’s alt-weekly, in their annual “Best of Music Reader’s Poll” for three consecutive years. Her latest album, For All Time was released by Dependent/Baudelaire in 2006.
