Event Description
. Friday, September 21st I.M.U. presents The FLAIRS w/ MASS UNDERGOE & MY DEAD GIRLFRIEND @ The Media Club, 695 Cambie. Doors 9:30pm - Purchase advance tickets online at http://www.imuproductions.com/tix
The FLAIRS are set to take the world by storm with edgy, high energy pop-punk that harkens back to the days of '70s punk and '80s hair metal, sweetly flavoured with honeyed vocals over frayed power chords and frenzied beats. Featuring former members of Tuuli and Bif Naked's band, their latest CD "Shut Up And Drive" skillfully blends youthful spirit and undeniable talent, unleashing thier original sound on an unsuspecting public hungry for living, breathing, punk-coloured hard rock with smart pop sensibilities. http://www.myspace.com/theflairs
MASS UNDERGOE play dynamic, heavy, thoughtful alt/rock songs with reckless abandon for an ever-growing fanbase. Successful career highlights to date include regular MuchMusic & MuchLoud rotation, VideoFACT support, extensive cross-Canada touring and two sold out indie showcases for Toronto's 102.1 The Edge. With new music, a new EP and renewed energy, the band now features David Isbister (vocals), Alan Calimbas (guitar), Marino Mestrovic (bass) and Brandon Lazenby (drums). Rumours that they have joined the Black Parade are foundless, but they are brainstorming the Mauve Parade, a collection of elderly people dedicated to fighting crime through collective acts of grumbling and aggressive use of lavender. http://myspace.com/massundergoe
MY DEAD GIRLFRIEND is the ultimate in punk & macabre, delivering a darkly snearing post-punk-pop take on romance with influences including Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Evanescence, Queen, Misfits and Fallout Boy. "If Edgar Allan Poe knocked on Green Day's door to ask if they wanted to crash a midnight mass in the graveyard, My Dead Girlfriend's album would be the choice soundrack." http://www.myspace.com/officialmydeadgirlfriend
