. Saturday, August 25th IMU presents MIKEY MANVILLE CD RELEASE PARTY w/ MATTHEW MEI & YOU BRIGHT MINDS, JODY GLENHAM + JOSEPH BLOOD @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir Street . Doors 9pm / $10

MIKEY MANVILLE - Join The MANVILS' charismatic frontman as he celebrates the release of his latest solo side project CD "The Lucky Reeds" with an acoustic hoedown joined by special guests, Three Hills (acoustic), Joseph Blood & Jody Glenham. Known for his electrically charged sexy rock 'n' roll style in The Manvils, this country-influenced singer/songwriter changes things up and will captivate you with gorgeous, soulful acoustic melodies and a voice that's "reminiscent of a young Presley; a preacher who has felt the tinge of heartbreak and unrequited love".

MATTHEW MEI (aka The PREACHER'S SON & YOU BRIGHT MINDS) - Having traveled the world as the son of a preacher man, Matt's initial introduction to the world of music was his dads classical, old blues and folk records, but it was his struggles in life and his soulful growth that fueled his desire to write emotional and heartfelt songs. Matt teamed up with Jonathan Anderson (Jonathan Inc.) at Buena Vista Studios to create a thoughtful album that showcased some of his favorite songs he had written over the years. Be sure to join Matt tonight to hear songs from his newest CD release, "Contribution to Sound", a solid rock/folk excursion with bluesy undertones, hip hop beats and a most welcome retreat from the current atmosphere of commercial and trite ready-made music.
