Event Description

"Where the Rev puts catchy little rockabilly tunes, Big John Bates puts a rough blend of garage rock, punk and rockabilly that pulls you into a grimy and dangerous sound. 'Take Your Medicine' is a modern spin on old-school done in a way that is accurate to both the past and the present, with updated lyrics set over rough thumping upright bass." - Corinne, Pluginmusic.com

Medicine was released in North America in December 2006, charting on college radio in every province across Canada and has found its way to the greasers, betties, goths, psychos and blues rockers that dig the raw sound, expertly recorded and lovingly manipulated by Todd Simko (Pure, Xavier Rudd) , that captures the dirty feel of BJB's minor-key mania.

BJB's sound began with the greasy old-school psychobilly-surf of the debut disc 'Flamethrower' (EL TORO 2001) and grew into the rock'n'roll-exotica that defined "Mystiki" (DSR 2003). Both Flamethrower and Mystiki were very well-received by the kustom kulture crowd and made their mark on national college charts. 'Mystiki' cruised the top 50 for six consecutive weeks, lead by the swinging toms of "Bad Girls Go to Hell", title track "Mystiki" and a scorching version of "Tainted Love".
