The second in our Hip Hop Expo series, tonight's show feature's 100% local talent. A seasoned veteran of the Northwest music scene, Checkmate has been performing shows, rocking parties, and tearing up the radio airwaves since 1992. His most notable appearance is on Rascals ' Juno Award winning �Northern Touch' and he has released two full-length albums while opening for such artists as De La Soul , Alcoholiks , Xzibit , Raekwon , Kool Keith and Parliament . Concise has seasoned his skills by touring extensively throughout North America, ripping versus on mix tapes, radio shows and several major and indie label projects, made numerous television appearances on Muchmusic, MTV, CBC, and solidified his position as one of the hottest up and comers in Hip-Hop today. He has worked with such artists as Checkmate, Rascalz and DJ Mastermind , plus co-produced Swollen Members hit single �Fuel Injected�, which helped propel their album Bad Dreams (Battle Axe) to gold status and a 2002 Juno award. These two artists are two of Vancouver's best and along with this slew of other notable locals they personify the strength of Vancouver's Independent Hip Hop scene.
