Event Description

on sale Thurs, 3/29 @ 10am

After playing a series of showcase dates during Canadian Music Week and South By Southwest, The Cliks’ buzz-band status was cemented. Media from across North America were quick to weigh in with praise for the Toronto-based band’s dynamic, exciting live performances. Of the group¹s performance at the Rivoli in Toronto during CMW, Chart magazine wrote, “The Cliks are for real. Don’t expect cheesy, drippy bubblegum pop-rock from this good-looking and styling group. From the first note, chord and beat, they hammer their balls-to-wall rock.” Following their SXSW showcase, the Boston Globe wrote “The Cliks… rocked with primal, stylish ferocity reminiscent of the early Pretenders.”

Like The Cliks’ live shows, the band’s new album Snakehouse (Silver Label/Tommy Boy in the U.S., Kindling Music/Warner Music in Canada) is primal rock ’n’ roll full of unguarded emotionality and gutsy sexuality. “Oh Yeah”, “Complicated”, “Leading Me On”, and the trio’s transformation of Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” into a seething rock anthem driven by a hopped-up reggae groove are proven crowd favourites and irrepressibly catchy tunes. This spring, The Cliks launch a headlining tour of North America before taking part in the first annual True Colors Tour with Cyndi Lauper, Erasure and Debbie Harry, and hosted by comedian Margaret Cho.

A hard-rocking four-piece from Vancouver, The Smears are fronted by a world-class belter in lead singer Rene Botha. It’s Rene’s voice, along with the band’s stinging rock ’n’ roll attack on top-notch songs like “Wish You Would” and “So Scared”, that make Asthenic Process one of the brashest rock ’n’ roll debuts of the year.
