Event Description
Leslie Feist’s album Let it Die couldn’t have been more inappropriately named. After all, this is a record that, since it’s 2004 release, just won’t die—from its modest beginnings the disc’s popularity has snowballed, to the point where Feist is a bona fide star. It couldn’t have happened to a more worthy artist, either, because, like other organic successes—Norah Jones comes to mind—she did it not with excessive hype but on the strength of immaculate pop songs like “Mushaboom” and slow-burners such as “One Evening”.
The Canadian singer, who has recorded and performed with Peaches and Broken Social Scene, is finally coming out with a disc of brand new material. Following her successful album of remixes Open Season, Feist will release The Reminder May 1. This may be another inappropriately named disc—after all, anyone who has heard Let it Die or seen this engaging performer at any of her numerous club, theatre or festival gigs hardly needs reminding of her talent.
