Of all the weird team-ups in rock ’n’ roll, perhaps none has been stranger than this year’s pairing of Guns ‘n’ Roses--and Bubbles. Now, fresh from his appearances singing “Liquor and Whores” with Axl Rose, the bespectacled, feline-loving Bubbles (played by Mike Smith) is hitting the road with the rest of the cast, including Julian (John Paul Tremblay) and Ricky (Robb Wells), from the beloved Canadian comedy series Trailer Park Boys. First introduced to audiences in 2001, Trailer Park Boys is a Showcase Original series about Julian (John Paul Tremblay), Ricky (Robb Wells) and Bubbles (Mike Smith) - three guys whose view of the world has been shaped by their experiences growing up in Sunnyvale Trailer Park. Now heading into season seven of the acclaimed TV show, and fresh from the success of the Trailer Park Boys movie, the denizens of Sunnyvale Trailer Park are bringing their inimitable sense of humor to a stage near you.
Helix, with its 30-year history as a Canadian music icon, is the perfect support act for the mighty Trailer Park Boys. The hard rock heavy metal band, perhaps best know for its 1984 single “Rock You”, has toured with Kiss, Aerosmith, Rush, and Motley Crue, among others—but is about to finally meet its match with Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles. (The Helix song “Heavy Metal Love” was included in the Trailer Park Boys movie but not the soundtrack.)
Hip-hop isn’t just for urban streets—trailer park denizens get down with it too, yo. Know for their dark and aggressive sound and electrifying live show, the Swollen Members are one of the hottest acts in hip-hop. The Juno Award-winning duo of Prevail and Mad Child is touring in support of their latest effort, Black Magic, which follows Monsters in the Closet and the platinum Bad Dreams. The Vancouver hip-hop act’s “Swamp Water” is included on the Trailer Park Boys movie soundtrack.
