Come all speakers of slam, style and substance. The evening starts with the open mic followed by our fabulous feature performers. This week members of the Vancouver poetry slam team Patrick Swan and Magpie Ulysses.

(members of the 2006 Vancouver Poetry Slam Team) .............Born and raised in identical small cities in the wild Yee-haw of the Canadian prairies, Patrick Swan and Magpie Ulysses found each other while talking to themselves and bathing in a small inlet in Vancouver. They liked each other, they both liked poetry, they both liked the shiny stage lights, and lo and behold these birds are flying south for the winter, together. .............They are current members of the 2006 Vancouver Slam team, and past members of the Canadian champion team 'Van Deux' which rocked the mic at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in 2005. ............. Patrick has toured throughout Canada and the US, performing his unique brand of "Prague-talk" spoken word as an opening act for various indie rock bands. He is Vancouver's 2006 grand slam champion and IWPS rep, and is best known for tasting like sports, and washing his hair with tears at night to make it look as emotional as possible. ............. Magpie is: freshie faced and full of fertile-lap-dog-take-no-shit-lay-down-in-the-sunbeam-and-cry-in-your-bathtub poetics. She has been a member of 3 Vancouver poetry slam teams, and has performed in cities and at festivals small and large across Canada and in the United States. ............. They both spit hot fire, and are always happy to see you.
