About

Sam Bradley

Sam Bradley grew up a rolling stone. Fitting, since his music assembles good ol country with rhythm and blues. Also fitting, because the artists who defined that concept and era are among his top influences. At just 19, Sam writes songs reminiscent of that nascent period in rock music. Although Sam is a born and bred Londoner, he spent most of his formative years bouncing around from Hong Kong to Sri Lanka, to the Caribbean and then eventually on to Canada. Son to a wealthy businessman and musician mama, Sam moved with his mom to Nashville for a period after their divorce in the early 90s. It was in Nashville, where his musical talent became evident to himself and those who knew him at that time. His time in Nashville also provided the inspiration for and influence of country music in his songwriting. It was in Nashville where he became exposed to heroes like Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker. Sam moved back to London in 94 and enrolled into a liberal arts school in95. Though he was instantly disillusioned with the constraints of academic life, his contemporaries, still his best friends today, helped to take him in more productive directions. Soon he began playing his music anywhere that would have him, be it an Irish pub, a squat party or Tall Poppy Records weekly showcase, where he waited tables too. In the summer of 2004, Sam dropped out of school all together and by this time had moved to Vancouver with the Tall Poppy crew to pursue his music career. He began recording songs, both on a borrowed four-track and on his beloved Pro-tools G-4. Sam is the now the youngest artist to-date on the Tall Poppy line-up. Hes busy in the studio finishing his debut EP, due for release in the fall of 2006.
