Victoria’s savviest music lovers are divided into two groups – those who are still patting themselves on the back for catching the blistering, sold out debut of soul singer Ryan Shaw at the 2008 JazzFest and the many others who are kicking themselves for missing one of last year’s hottest shows. Even though Shaw wasn’t even alive during the golden age of R&B and doo-wop, this outrageously talented singer-songwriter originally from Decatur, Georgia has fashioned his own special take on those sweet soul sounds from the ‘60s. His repertoire, a mix of classics by Wilson Pickett, Jackie Wilson and all the other masters of street-corner soul, is seamlessly blended in with little known tunes and Shaw’s own originals. A charismatic performer and extraordinary vocalist, Ryan Shaw will bring it on home to you!
“A massive talent . . . fusing the mannered style of Motown with the sexy, sweaty grit of Stax.” -Billboard
