Breathtaking dance, discerning theatre, hilarious comedy and globally-celebrated music highlight this year’s festival with world-class performances and workshops by international, Canadian and local artists.
An eagerly anticipated highlight of Vancouver’s dance season is the Chutzpah! Festival’s Dance Series. The 2016 Festival presents some of the most sought-after contemporary choreographers in the world including; Dance Double Bill with Shay Kuebler Radical System Art (Canada) & MADBOOTS Dance (USA), Maria Kong (Israel), Spellbound Contemporary Ballet (Italy), Gallim Dance (USA), Ballet Kelowna (Canada).
The Chutzpah! Festival 2016 presents outstanding internationally-celebrated music, including leading world music pioneers. The rich global landscape of music presented this year showcases some of the world’s most exciting musical performers from Israel, Mexico City, Canada and Cuba including; Rotem Sivan Trio (USA/Israel), Victoria Hanna (Israel), The Andy Statman Trio (USA), Odessa/Havana (Canada/Cuba), Klezmerson (Mexico), Baladino (Israel/Germany), A-WA (Israel), Avishai Cohen Quartet (Israel).
Rounding out the 2016 lineup is hilarious comedy, a funny and insightful play and for the first time at Chutzpah!, a moving and shocking literary event. Comedy: Opening Night Gala with stand-up comedians Jessica Kirkson (USA) & Jon Steinberg (Canada); Theatre: A Very Narrow Bridge (Canada); Literary Event: Jennifer Teege in conversation with Marsha Lederman (Germany).
