Metchosin ArtPod is an artist-run collective and gallery located in the rural village of Metchosin, on Greater Victoria’s West Shore. We support local visual artists by offering opportunities to learn, create, show, and sell original work, and offer the community a venue for engaging with the visual arts.
EXHIBITIONS:
We offer open calls for art submissions to artists in our region and beyond and have six artist calls a year around a specific theme. Access to open calls is provided through our website. All submissions to these shows are adjudicated by an external juror and the shows are on exhibit for 6-8 weeks in a gallery setting. All work on display is for sale.
PROGRAMS and EVENTS:
We host show opening events, featured artist talks, and discussion forums, weekly drop-in art sessions, art workshops, resource networks and learning opportunities in the Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre Association (MACCA) building, where the ArtPod gallery is located. Details and registration are available via our website.
TERRITORY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
Metchosin ArtPod is located on the traditional territory of the Schian’exw (Beecher Bay) First Nation. This place is also shared with the neighbouring communities of the Ts’ouke (Sooke) and the Lekwungen peoples. We acknowledge the Schian’exw (Beecher Bay) First Nation, and the lands on which we live, work, play, create art and offer community programs. We also give thanks to those who have gone before us, and for the living beings who are the stewards of this place.
We're here to help artists and arts organizations reach their audiences and each other.
Non-profit run and created by the community, ArtsVictoria.ca integrates current event listings and multimedia arts portfolios, and creates an explorable, living archive of the arts in Victoria BC.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
