PINK FLOYD ECHOES TRIBUTE - Vancouver's Ween tribute band, JAPANESE COWBOY, (formed by singer/songwriter Miriam Davidson & Elijah Bak of The Dollar Store Jesus) will be delivering their tribute to one of Pink Floyd's most ambitious and musically diverse songs. Experimental oceanic sonar sounds set the mood and the opening lyrics place the listener at an underwater location where 'everything is green and submarine'. The song twists & turns, as though sounding a violent storm, then switches pace again with sonic texture suggesting the feeling of clearing air and receding winds after a violent storm. "Echoes", a song with lengthy instrumental passages, sound effects, and rock improvisation was written by all four members of the group (Roger Waters, Richard Wright, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason) and provided the extended finale to Pink Floyd's album Meddle. Originally the composition was assembled from separate fragments and split in two parts to serve as both the opening and closing numbers in the band's film Live At Pompeii.
