Julia Oscarson is an experimental artist who paints primarily in an abstract style.
“As the painting evolves, new possibilities emerge that I consider and pull forward or push back, creating a form without form appearance. I like to play with familiarity in a hushed approach."
Oscarson grew up on the west coast of Canada and studied art formally at The Victoria College of Art. She has lived for extended amounts of time in Europe and Asia. The time she spent abroad greatly influenced her artistic growth, her commitment to painting made stronger by the abundance of art galleries and museums in the European cities in which she lived.
Recently, returning to Vancouver Island Oscarson is looking forward to returning to the local arts community
We're here to help artists and arts organizations reach their audiences and each other.
