When not on stage or in the studio, she spends her time working on her craft, getting focused in her message and tuning in to her vision.
This is her time to step onto larger stages and communicate with wider audiences!
There is an authenticity in her sound as her songs describe a personal journey through music and life. Her experiences, however, are not much different than those of her audience. This is the connection.
Not only is this woman an artist, but a story teller. Her experiences and wisdom are a part of this musical interlude. The higher messages, foundational to each song, touch on the ideas of “creating one’s own reality”, “stepping into one’s power” and the idea of “choice in one’s life”. Her intricate melodies, harmonies and rhythms set the tone; each word offering an intimate glimpse into who she is and what she represents.
Originally from Saskatchewan but with roots now planted on the West Coast, Mz. Nicholson is a songwriter who believes in the power of the moment. This is evident as one can actually witness barriers falling as the music progresses and the divide between herself and the audience begins to disappear. Her intention is to use this musical gift to inspire positive thought, stir up souls, expand minds and penetrate hearts.
Her well known track, “Freedom” was featured in Canadian Premiering Musical, “Dregs: Rock Bottom” in 2004 and has recently been featured on Vancouver’s “F Word Radio” (Co-Op Radio).
Inspired by artists such as Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Sade, Stevie Wonder, Esthero, India Arie, Etta James, Eva Cassidy, Michael Franti and so many more, Jessi knows her higher purpose; she lives this on stage and in life!
Jessi Nicholson is truly starting a SOUL REVOLUTION and simultaneously riding that higher vibration.
Jessi is planning a Western Canadian tour during the summer of 2010.
