After playing with Arturo Sandoval throughout the ‘80s, Havana-born piano virtuoso Hilario Durán eventually moved on and formed his own group (as well as performing with Jane Bunnett). With a few acclaimed solo albums under his belt, Durán moved to Canada in the mid-‘90s and quickly established himself as one of this country’s jazz giants. Winner of a 2007 Juno Award for “Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year” and several Canadian National Jazz Awards, Durán is always a superb player, whether working solo, with his big band or his all-star trio.
