Originally from Montreal, Heather moved to the West Coast in 1994. Prior to moving west, she lived in Toronto and overseas in Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany. She moved from Vancouver in 2021, and now works out of her studio in Victoria, BC.
Heather has explored working in oils, watercolours, mixed media and acrylics with her paintings ranging from representational to abstract. Currently, she is focusing on abstract compositions using acrylics and some mixed media. In addition to a background in science and psychology, Heather has participated in many art classes and workshops over the years. She has always been drawn to the expressive and healing components of art and the creative process. Heather is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), the FCA Victoria Chapter, and the Victoria Arts Council.
"Although my paintings are mostly abstract, I find inspiration in nature and the interplay of colours and shapes of objects in my environment. I often incorporate vibrant colours, bold brushwork, and gestural marks in my work expressing a sense of joy, freedom, and spontaneity. The emphasis is on the process of exploration and discovery as I tune in, create a dialogue with the painting, and connect with what is unfolding."
