Elvis Costello
Singer/songwriter Elvis Costello has been at the forefront of popular music for over two decades. He’s best known for his work with The Attractions and The Imposters and for recent concert appearances with pianist Stevie Nieve. A restless, creative spirit, Exclaim magazine calls him, “Erudite…musically gifted…[he’s] produced the most concentrated cache of brilliant songs since Bob Dylan’s mid-’60s output [and has] remained true throughout a career that has ranged from blood-and-guts rock to country, jazz and classical.” Earlier this year, Elvis displayed his vibrant jazz vocal chops with the release of My Flame Burns Blue (DG), a live recording from the North Sea Jazz Festival with Holland’s Metropole Orkest. Recently, Costello has teamed up with legendary New Orleans singer/songwriter and pianist/producer Allen Toussaint for concerts and a recording, River in Reverse (Verve). The prolific songwriter (Working in the Coal Mine; Right Place, Wrong Time; Lady Marmalade) is one of America’s greatest musical treasures. He’s a hugely influential figure in New Orleans R&B, having written and produced numerous hits for artists including Lee Dorsey, The Meters, Solomon Burke, Dr. John, and Patti Labelle. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. This fantastic collaboration between Costello and Toussaint will see 11 musicians (including horn section) take the stage for a night of unforgettable sounds.Unknown
