Members:
Joy, who plays drums, first locked eyes with the girls of Automatic Fancy in May 2004. B.J., Automatic Fancy had a drummer named Mike. After his leave, Grady, Nikkie and Natasha took the fantastic opportunity to write songs. Joy was a quick learner, after years of playing drums at music school. The girls began playing shows in at the beginning of August 2004 after a five month hiatus. Grady and Natasha knew each other in past lives and eventually met in the current one in 2001. The girls went through bands like tampons. One day, they decided to place an ad in the personals in The Georgia Straight. Nikkie, looking for some hot action, replied to the ad and was disappointed that the ad was a trick to find a singer. Grady, Natasha and Nikkie jammed out some cover songs and fell in love. They proceeded to write millions of songs which they scrapped. The story goes on and on, but let’s just say Automatic Fancy is not the same band as it was in 2002.

What’s Happening Now:

The girls are working their way up in Vancouver, playing with bands they like, and whatnot. They hope to play shows with bands-superior, weaselling their ways through a scene they’ve never entirely fit into. About four people told Automatic Fancy that they should record some music. So, they are going into the studio on the weekend of November 5th to record a five song EP. The EP will include the most beloved, newer songs from Automatic Fancy, such as Pretty Deadly, The Remarkeable Rocket, and Talk Mouth.

What’s happening in the future:

Automatic Fancy would like to play some shows in places other than British Columbia. Perhaps one day they will tour. Nikkie will most likely mail CDs to every address she can get her hands on, but she and Natasha will have to work on some cover art first. The girls will plan a CD release party, hopefully at their favorite venue, Ze Lamplighter, and hopefully with some of their favorite bands in Vancouver! Vancouver! T-shirts may be in store, for fashionable consumers…but not for awhile. If we’re going to sell shit, it’s going to be good shit. Nikkie is driving to Montreal, playing shows with a quirky haphazard band on the way to. She is trying to lure Grady to come along so that they can write songs together. Networking in Quebec will ensue. One of these days, we will build a band website, and you will come (all over the screen) to see it. Nude photos of us in Grandpa costumes. Yum…
