Though Deux Trois has only been a band for a couple years now, they’re far from unfamiliar to the Kingston music scene. Members of Deux Trois have been involved in an array of local acts, ranging from singer Nadia Pacey’s solo electronic project Konig to bands like Warmer, Carvings, and PS I Love You. So what do you get when you combine several members with varying musical styles? You get something unique in the city’s musical patchwork.

The band’s 2018 debut album Health combines elements of 80s new wave and post punk with indie rock. Think Siouxsie and the Banshees meets the Yeah Yeah Yeahs: heavy on atmosphere and tone, with an emphasis on guitars and percussion. But it’s not just about the sound with Deux Trois. The band’s visual style and aestetic are equally thoughtful and distinct, with their dark, moody videos and graphics perfectly complementing the band’s music.
In May 2019, Deux Trois released a new single, “Monday to Friday,” which sounds like a flash back to lo-fi punk anthems from the 80s, and in the next few months, the band is preparing for the release of their next record.
Our three-part look back on a year's worth of new music by Kingston-based artists concludes as Pete and Riley share their love for 2020 releases from Deux Trois and The Wilderness.
