"Oakridge Ave is the sonic love-child of John Mayer and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, conceived at a party thrown by Kings of Leon."
Kingston’s Oakridge Ave. are quickly making a name for themselves as one of the region’s hottest emerging bands. Featuring a lineup of four dynamic musicians—Harrison Stewart-Juby, Thomas Draper, Joe Kenny, and Sean Patterson—the group often draws inspiration from their hometown, with the Limestone City providing a major influence on the band's identity.
Formed in 2017, Oakridge Ave. has found considerable success playing some of Kingston’s legendary venues, including The Grad Club, The Ale House, and The Mansion. Entertaining crowds with slick musicianship and a strong stage presence, the band regularly delivers a live show reminiscent of artists who have been touring for decades.
"This Kingston band has quickly risen to the top of the city’s rock scene since forming in 2018 and galvanizing fans with their very danceable blues and funk hits, and tight musicianship."
~ Jordan Whitehouse, Visit Kingston
With their indie-alt rock style, Oakridge Ave. evokes the familiarities of the genre, while adding in hints of pop and grunge, creating a unique sound of sun-soaked rock thoroughly leaden with deep textures and ear candy. With Patterson's melodic vocal hooks and stacked choruses, the band's lyrics are familiar yet distinct, establishing themes that tap into deeper questions of humanity and what binds people together despite our differences. Through the band’s strong musical craftsmanship, with Draper’s masterful guitar riffs, Kenny’s driving bass, and Stewart-Juby’s heavy percussion, Oakridge Ave. creates a vivid and fresh sound with maximum colour saturation.
In 2018, Oakridge Ave. embarked on their first-ever tour of Eastern Canada, playing cities like Montreal, Charlottetown, Saint John and Halifax. After returning to Kingston, the band began work on their debut full-length album, Endless Nights, with help from producer and Canadian rock legend Ian Blurton. 2019 saw the addition of Thomas Draper on guitar and backing vocals, providing a new dynamic in the studio and helping flesh out the band’s live sound. The following year, Oakridge Ave. debuted three singles and two music videos, before Endless Nights was released in full in April 2020.
In the fall of 2021, the group introduced Kenny as their new bass player, before starting work on their sophomore album, which is currently being produced by JUNO winner Hawksley Workman. Throughout the recording process, the band has cultivated a new and exciting sound, pushing their boundaries as musicians and chasing a unique and powerful indie-pop aesthetic.
