Sheldon has worked as a music teacher for the past 17 years and has worked at Case’s for the past 7. Prior to teaching, he received many years of formal classical training in piano, violin, viola, voice, percussion, and guitar through the Algoma Conservatory of Music, the Gartshore School of Music, and private educators. Sheldon spent a decade as a first violinist and violist with the Sault Symphony Orchestra, and, as the winner of local Kiwanis and other competitions, was a featured soloist as a vocalist and violinist. He performed many concerts throughout Ontario, Michigan and Louisiana as a member of the Kammermusik String Quartette. As a vocalist and chorister, he also spent four seasons with the Ontario Youth Choir and completed four concert tours with The Canadian Chamber Choir. He further sang many concert tours, including in Normandy France as a member of the Nathaniel Dett Corale under the direction of Brainard Blyden Taylor, and in Toronto’s St Timothy’s Anglican Church choir as a tenor section lead. Sheldon is also an accomplished songwriter and recording artist and has played in many touring acts, such as The Wild Turkeys, Dustin Jones and The Rising Tide, Frank Deresti and The Lake Effect, and The Boothill Crooners. The Rising Tide took him and his bandmates across Canada and the US as a featured artist with the Vans Warped Tour for several years. ~ https://casesmusic.ca/teacher/sheldon-jaaskelainen
