Engaged in bands for the last 10 years, Lisbon and Madrid (aka Colin) hardly seems like a candidate for technical electronic music. After all, it was only 2 years ago when the most likely place to find Colin was in some dive bomb bar in northern Florida, playing hardcore metal with his band Maharahj. When the band finally parted ways after 4 years, he took an interest in audio editing and subsequently electronic composition. His recent project Lisbon and Madrid has been gaining ground amongst scenesters in the T-dot D&B scene, blasting through speakers afar. Coming to Halifax to get away from the hustle and bustle, he hesitated when asked to comment on his style. ? "The work I do, is definitely something I wouldn't put refer to as genre-specific. I'm influenced by a lot of Warp and Ninjatune records, but a focus on free thought and expression. I still listen to (metal) bands like Buried Inside". The 25 year old is currently working on his 1st full length, due out later in the year. Meanwhile his EP, ?Markets Implode? has been well received by local college radio in Toronto and Halifax. Watch for this up and comer.
