About

from Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z

since circa 2003
In 2006 From Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z recorded their debut album “Designs” with engineer S.J. Kardash (of Saskatoon’s Junior Pantherz and The Blood Lines) and secured national distribution through Scratch Records In the same year, the band climbed hand-over-hand out of the local scene and garnered attention across the Country, with tours taking them as far as New York City on two separate occasions.

A dynamic center between driving punk, art rock experimentation, and thinking mans pop, the band’s sound is simultaneously thought provoking and infectious. Their debut effort Designs captures their sound and live energy and layers it with full strings, choir, accordion, and so much more. With as much time invested in its texture and subliminal as its hooks and immediate pay-offs, Designs is a debut of immense promise for this Western Canadian quintet who scratch you in places you didn't even realize needed itching. As the cliché goes "there's something for everybody” and that means you!

"The ethereal and chilling instrumentals are in a class of their own, creating the sort of atmosphere that makes the hair on your arms stand up."
-Chartattack Aug '06

With the addition of engaging, energetic performances From Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z has been ear-marked as a band “you just have to see” by Winnipeg’s Uptown Magazine. Now, From Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z looks onward and upwards, writing and planning tours across Canada and the United States in 2007.
