About

The Canadian Guitar Quartet

The Canadian Guitar Quartet comprises four of Canada's finest concert guitarists: Philip Candelaria, Denis Donegani, Louis Trpanier, and Patrick Roux. The CGQ is in residence at the University of Ottawa, where all four members currently teach.

Since their first public concert in 1999, the CGQ has toured extensively in Canada and performed at several international festivals. In August 2001, the CGQ completed a highly successful debut tour in South America, including two performances for the international festival Entre Cuerdas in Chile.

The CGQ's first CD, Portrait I, has been called the best guitar quartet recording out there (Edy Dorlian, Beirut, Lebanon). Their second CD, Les Scnes de Quartiers, has just been released and already is getting rave reviews.

CGQ concerts include repertoire from the Renaissance to Contemporary music, with a particular focus on the dynamic original compositions of Patrick Roux.
