About

Jon Bone with the Karuna Movement

Label: T.K.M Inc.
since circa 2001
Jon Bone - writer, guitarist, vocalist and producer of Jon Bone with the Karuna Movement had a passion for singing throughout his childhood into his early teens. After going through theory and academic instruction throughout school and college Bone forged on a journey that would take him and his passion for music on a mission to be of benefit to the human community. As he says, "I really feel that music has the potential to inspire great social change. I feel it my duty and privilege to use the skills and abilities I have as a musician and song writer to uplift the human society and to inspire this positive social change that is very needed at this point in history. May we all together do our best to be of benefit."

To explain "The Karuna Movement" Karuna means compassion.

Music is medicine.

Music can help to heal the world of it's miseries by inspiring people to set down their worries, even for a short time, and be present with the vibrations sounding from the bands very heart . . .

Music can inspire people to dance and awaken to the reality of the sensations in their bodies; The sensations that can only be now. No past regrets or sorrows. No future desires. The pureness of the present and the music of this moment.

Music can communicate a message, and in our case, the message of awakening to this moment, to accept and enjoy it, and to celebrate life through song dance. To live with the conscious intention to be of benefit.

The Karuna Movement has been moving for centuries. It's the mission to bring the qualities of respect, kindness, wisdom and compassion into our communities. It has had many emissaries.

Musically, The Karuna Movement is a Jam band laying down a mix of reggae, funk, and world grooves and coloring them with catchy melodies and deep lyrical content. They groove on a nice balance of tunes with free form, improvized jams. They're all heart. When you join them, come ready to dance!!!

The Karuna Movement are currently in the studio recording an album that is to be released in the fall of 2008. Sixteen musicians combine to play parts on this album, all from Vancouver Island and the Caribbean Islands. Everyone of these musicians is picking a charity that vibrates with them. 10% of all profits will be donated to these charities. Some of these charities include:
