This plucky English IDM producer set the world on its ear by following up several works of glitch-laden electronica with 2005's Otis Redding-flavored soul-taco Multiply. It must have felt good, 'cause on his latest record Jim has only gone more authentically and flawlessly soulful. Hell, when he comes through Vancouver on his world tour, I would be surprised to see a laptop anywhere on stage. In the grand scheme of things, he is not Otis or Marvin Gaye. He has a ways to go before he gets to that level. However, since Amy Winehouse cleaned up the Grammys last time around, I'm sure Lidell's finest record yet will attain the audience it deserves.
