INTERNAL POSITION Full time Permanent
Program /Team ArtWorks.
Position Summary: Promote and ensure the skill development of individuals with developmental disabilities through art and related activities. Services are provided in community-based settings, in GHS program spaces, and in the ArtWorks Studio. Complete learning assessments and provide clients with continued learning through art and art-related activities education that will further independence and inclusion in the community.
Reports to: Team Coordinator ArtWorks
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Location: Based out of 1950 Government St.
Skills and abilities:
Demonstrated working knowledge of supports specific to individuals with DD
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to establish a positive rapport with all stakeholders.
Demonstrated working knowledge of current trends and best practices in arts-based learning
Demonstrated working knowledge of fine art mediums, painting, drawing, printmaking, papier-mâché, sculpture. Working knowledge of foundational art concepts and art history.
Demonstrated ability to teach and promote the artistic abilities of clients in both group and individual settings
Demonstrated ability to network within the Victoria Art Community. Participant in solo/group art shows
Good time management skills
Demonstrated teamwork skills
Written communication skills, especially with regard to reporting. Computer literacy
Required Education, Training and Experience:
A degree or diploma in visual arts, and/or the equivalent education and experience is required for this position
Recognized as a professional artist
One year recent experience in the development and delivery of arts-based learning opportunities
Experience and knowledge in the area of behaviour management and/or Crisis Intervention including Mandt Training
First Aid/CPR.
Class 5 Driving License

Willing to use personal vehicle for work purposes
Wage rate: See Wage Grid for Vocational Counsellor in Appendix A of the collective agreement (Step 1 - $23.10/hr).
