Alexandra Hunter
"A deeply contemplative and intuitive process, my paintings capture a prophetic dreamscape on canvas: a world of peace, hope, spirit, and quietude."
Primarily self-taught, Canadian artist Alexandra Hunter was a finalist of the inaugural Victoria Emerging Art Awards in 2010. From 2010 to 2013, she was an active member of Victoria Emerging Art Gallery and the Community Arts Council for Greater Victoria, exhibiting frequently with both.
A former artist-in-residence at the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria, Canada, Alexandra also painted plein air on the lawns of the Fairmont Empress Hotel through Artishow. Moving to Mexico in 2013 to pursue painting and writing, she was soon invited to join the B’nai Or Art Group, exhibiting large-scale works at the renowned Galería Pérgola in San Miguel de Allende.
Influenced by postwar abstract expressionism, Alexandra’s rich, textural abstracts and botanicals are exhibited in Canada and Mexico, and are in private and corporate collections in Canada, the US, Mexico, and the UK. She divides her time between Victoria, Canada, and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
