Veteran Bassist and Recording Artist James Young has performed extensively across Canada and the U.S.A

His professional career, spanning over 20 years, includes playing and recording with many world class musicians. He has played with Holly Cole, Lenny Breau, Phil Nimmons, Julius Hemphill, Lee Konitz, Roscoe Mitchell, Sam Rivers, to name only a few.

James has recorded in some of the top studios in Canada, most recently with Juno Award winner Ken Hamm at Blue Wave Studios in Vancouver, B.C.

James is a classically trained musician who holds a University degree from the University Of Alberta, and has received many scholarships to the Banff Centre of Fine Arts. He was a featured guest performer at the Berkeley School or Music, as well as touring Europe with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra.

James has played in every major Jazz Festival in Canada.
