This year being the 4th Anniversary of Spirited Jazz Vespers, Saturday June 23rd will see a special Spirited Jazz Celebration. Chelsea McBride's Socialist Night School 19-piece big band will be right here on our stage. The Toronto-based Band recently received stellar acclaim in Downbeat Magazine.
Chelsea McBride is the 25 year old award-winning conductor/composer/ ringleader of Chelsea McBride's Socialist Night School, a 19-piece big band featuring a diverse and multi-generational mix of Toronto's finest jazz musicians. With influences ranging from Maria Schneider abroad to Darcy James Argue and Christine Jensen here at home, the Socialist Night School is one of the youngest and most prolific groups playing original contemporary big band music in Canada. They have just recently received grant funding to support a tour this summer promoting “The Twilight Fall”.

Each service brings together live music from popular local jazz musicians, a brief meaningful message, and a little of the history of the music performed.
