The Guru, based out of Victoria, B.C., Canada is a one-of-a-kind performer, blending all styles of electronic music and beyond. Previously residing in Calgary, Ab. The Guru established himself as a unique presence in the scene with a focus on multi genre mixing, and in story telling through sound. Starting in late ‘98 The Guru began his electronic trip with the styles of Hardcore, Gabber and Acid Techno, and quickly moved into the sounds of Jungle and DnB. Working with long time friend Dr. Hauser, he found house music and realized that no sound was out of reach. Through the tail end of the 90s and into the early 2000s Guru took a focus on exploration, diving into the world of IDM and ambient and playing various chill rooms. It wasn't long before The guru began throwing events and digging deeper in to the behind the scenes of the musical landscape of Calgary.
In his long career The Guru has been involved in many aspects of the western Canadian music scene. From co-operating Moonlight Records record label, running, and being involved in multiple festivals, including the Calgary Electronic Music Festival, FozzyFest and a handful of others to being part of multiple production companies over the years. The Guru has played almost every festival in western Canada multiple times including Shambhala Music festival, FozzyFest, EdFest, Sync Festival, Electric Sky Festival, Vibrant Festival, Wicked Woods, and many others as both a sub headliner and headliner. After taking some time off in 2019 and moving to Victoria, The Guru has a re-invigorated drive to share the music he loves with the crowds again. Playing multiple times weekly on Twitch (twitch.tv/beatspacifikguru) with multiple shows, Including Roots Corner Reggae Mondays, Wicked Wednesdays DnB Raid train, and Puff Puff Pass Thursdays. and playing wherever possible as shows come back, make sure to check The Guru coming to you soon.
