Phil Albert is a sought after professional bassist who has relocated to Victoria after a long time in Toronto. He released his first record as leader called “In the Big World” which features original compositions and touching renditions of familiar songs. In 2013 Phil released his EP, “Perspective Suite”.
As a professional performer both on Double Bass and Electric Bass, Phil has played over 1000 shows on over 50 recordings. Phil grew up in a musical home on the exceptionally artistic Saltspring Island, B.C. and started playing music at age five. Phill explored and became proficient on many instruments including: drums, guitar, trumpet, electric and acoustic bass, and voice. Phil is a graduate from Vancouver Island University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music in Jazz studies.
He has performed with many Canada’s finest musicians including: Hugh Fraser, Phil Dwyer, The Mike Harriot, Pat Coleman, Brent Jarvis, Tony Wilson, George McFetridge, Buff Allen, Ross Taggart, Nick Fraser, Brad Turner, Tony Genge, John Capon, Haley Sales, Monik Nordine, Alex Goodman, Mike Murley, Andrew Downing, Darren Sigesmund, Brownman Ali, and many others.
