Alison Boston

Self-taught (mostly) musician/singer/song-writer with experience sitting-in as guest vocalist on pro-gigs, and performing and fronting bands in blues, jazz, and fusion jams, and experimental improvisation sessions. Some jazz studies with Brighton Jazz Co-op and Victoria UJam Society.

Background: Educated in theatre, trained as an actress, previously funded by Canada Council for the Arts Explorations Programme as a spoken-word artist/performance poet, Canada Council for the Arts Theatre Programme as actress/producer, and Ontario Arts Council. Stage, film, and television experience as pro-actress. Experience as pro-announcer for television and live radio, voice-over for commercials, corporate and educational recordings. Member ACTRA and UBCP. Represented by BarbaraCoultish.ca as actress. Trained in Kristin Linklater method: Freeing the Natural Voice, and successfully use an adaptation of this method to help both trained and untrained singers gain more vocal freedom.
