Crystal Swells

Vancouver scuzz-punks CRYSTAL SWELLS meld together parts punk, psych and surf rock for a sound that’s equally exhilarating as it is trashy

Juvenile Hall

Juvenile Hall is one of those three piece outfits that scratch the back of your throat. Whether it’s from smoking too many cigarettes, yelling at a loud bar, or drinking too many individual packs of vinegar, you’ve got that feeling back there, but you like it. You’re proud of it. It’s a reminder that you filled every minute of your weekend with joy and eye-squinting grins.

Hole In My Head

This destined collaboration of drummer Al Mackinnon and bass player Karmin Poirier is an equal hub of both punk party and productivity. Playing steadily on punk bills from grindcore to power-pop, they just recorded a new full length called “2nd Place” with Mike Gittens (Tobeatic) at The Hive.

Ornament & Crime

Leaving the dust for the rain, Vancouver became home to Tom and Suzy in 2009. After trying many ways to tell their story, they soon turned their drums and guitar into an on-stage limitation necessary for finding their creative freedom. The sound that resulted was loud, clamoring and desperate. Inside this box, they place memories of blues, country and rock to influence them, taking notable inspiration from bands like The Kills, She Keeps Bees, and The White Stripes. Two piece rock band Ornament & Crime was formed by Thomas Hudson and Suzy King. Together they bring a sparse, dramatic and mangy sound to the floor.
