"Bang Bang is a powerhouse tune. While we give a big nod to Sonny Bono/Cher’s original, our interpretation of the song was most influenced by Nancy Sinatra’s version. Carmanah started playing this song live a few years ago and it immediately became a crowd-pleasing favourite. We never grew tired of performing the tune live so the band decided to record it. I know the lyrics in this song literally describe a heartbreak scenario. However, I think there is also a ton of emotionally complex stuff going on in the background as well. I hear Bang Bang as a song of empowerment. With the many spotlights shining on “gaslighting” and mental and emotional mistreatment, I hope our version of Bang Bang moves people not only to dance but to speak up for themselves and others against hate and the abuse of power." ~ Laura Mina Mitic
